Camp For A Cause

Ok now for why I needed a tent and a generator.  Starting tomorrow Mark and I will be camping out for our first ever "Camp For A Cause" event.  This year it's called Camp For A Cause: Backpack Edition, because we are trying to raise 50 plus backpacks with school supplies for children at Spout Springs Elementary that can't afford the supplies.  We will be camping out at 5911 Spout Springs Rd (across from Publix) in Flowery Branch from Thursday afternoon through Sunday to raise these supplies and make known this great need for our community.
Camp For a Cause will be an annual event that is designed to meet a need in our community.  We are all about being LOUD in our city and this will be one of the Loudest things we do each year.

So come out buy a backpack at Target and pack it with supplies then drop it off at our campsite.

Right place right time

Driving back to canton yesterday in a crazy storm a pickup truck headed the opposite direction started hydroplaning across the road.  If the truck comes into my lane it's a head on collision and I've got no where to go.  But instead it goes off in the grass as it passes me and falls down a steep embankment.  It was one of those times where no other car was around and I was the only one that saw it happen.  I turned my car around as quick as I could cutting off the other traffic that came around the corner and pulled over.  I tried signaling for help but they all just looked at me like I was crazy b/c you couldn't see the truck unless you were looking down the hill for it.
So I grabbed my phone and headed down the hill.  I couldn't see in the truck b/c of all the smoke from the air bags and of course the door was locked.  But just as I was about to bust out a window an old persons arm banged against the window and was trying to unlock it.  It finally got unlocked and there was this 70 plus yr old woman with cuts on her arms and frazzled as can be.  Thankfully another guy saw me down there and came to help.
It was one of those crazy times that if I had not been there she could have been down there for hours before any one saw her.  Because if you weren't looking for a car down this hill in the woods you never would of known.
As I was driving home thinking about it, I thanked God that He allowed me to be there at the right time to help her.  But then I realized something so much greater.  The Bible says in Luke 19 that the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.  There are lost people all over Flowery Branch and Hall county (ok their everywhere) and God has placed us and Reveal church their to seek out the lost and tell them about Christ.  We could go in and have our agenda and not keep an eye out for the needs of the community or the people that are their but rather we are going in with a plan to find the lost and tell them about Christ and help them with their needs.
What about you are you looking for the lost or just driving by with your agenda not looking for who God may have placed by you?

Proof is in the numbers

I've always said this and will till I die.  Duke is the best collegiate basketball school in my lifetime and I think it always will.  But this week espn proved it for me with their numbers.  So all you Tarheel fans can be proud of your third place but settle in your discomfort of knowing your still behind the greatest school ever Duke Blue Devils!

You can read the post here for yourself.

Generator

We are in need of a generator next week for ....ok I can't tell you yet but it's going to be huge.  Now I could spin this super spiritual about how we sometimes need to change our energy from one thing to another like a generator does but that's not what this is for.  I seriously need a generator for the second half of next week.  If you have one or know someone who does please contact me at shea.ferguson@gmail.com.
Thanks

Weird...

My friend JR told me about how he writes two birthday cards to his girls on every birthday.  One for the actual day and one for them ten years later.  I thought it was an awesome idea so I decided to steal it.  It is weird thinking about Kinsey being 12 yrs old and writing a message to her.  But I think it is something that allows me to pour more into her life.  I want nothing but the best for her and I want her to always know that and that I love her.
No one will ever be able to build Kinsey and Keegan and love them as much as Amber & I and I wouldn't want it any other way.

2 Years Ago Today...

I was supposed to be out playing golf with Steve and Brandon after church and pushing up my lead of wins against them.  But instead I got to experience the most amazing thing ever.  I saw my bride Amber give birth to our first girl Kinsey.  I can't believe she is two years old already.  She is so amazing!  Every day I come home and she is there waiting and screaming; "dada home."  I love it!  She has a tender heart for others, loves her sister Keegan and loves and adores her momma.

Kinsey I know you can't read but I Love You and hope you have had an awesome Birthday and I look forward to the party on Saturday.  You will always be my little Boo!
Love Dada

Mark at Freedom

I said last weekend that I would talk more about Mark speaking at Freedom Church.  Listening to Mark speak at Freedom was extremely exciting for me and here are my quick hits of why:
  • God has called me to serve under him and I am honored to do so.
  • I haven't heard him speak in a long time.
  • His passion for God and the message clearly comes out when he is teaching.
  • His heart for others to know Christ and to have a deeper relationship is evident.
  • It reminded me that I will soon get to hear him speak every week.
  • I know that God is going to use him mightily in leading Reveal church in reaching a ton of lost people for Christ.
  • He loves what God has called him to do.

7 Adults 5 Kids

What does 7 adults and 5 kids mean?  It means we kicked off our first Reveal Church meeting last Saturday night.  That's right we have taken an irreversible step in the process of Reveal Church and are now meeting every week at Mark's house.
Mark did an awesome job of delivering the purpose and vision of Reveal church for Flowery Branch and Hall county.  We may have a humble beginning but I truly believe God is about to blow the freakin doors off this thing and we're going to see numerous people come to Christ.

Planting a church can be very awkward at times but the journey is so stinkin exciting it makes the awkward times worth it.
